Mitchell has appointed John Gilboy, SVP/GM of its Chicago Office, to lead the expansion of Mitchell’s New York presence effective May 1.
In this role, Gilboy will be responsible for leading both the New York and Chicago offices for Mitchell with a focus on driving new business and consumer brand work. Gilboy will be instrumental in collaborating with Mitchell’s DAN partners in New York. Additionally, he will continue to lead and grow the agency’s research and insights practice area.

Gilboy joined Mitchell in 2014 and brings more than 12 years of industry experience to the table, impacting key clients including Walmart, Hilton Worldwide, and Kraft. His expertise centers on primary research and analysis. Meeting, connecting and hearing directly from consumers is central to Mitchell’s approach, which makes Gilboy an ideal leader for the New York Office, and the agency as a whole. He has moderated focus groups, developed secondary trend research and conducted ethnography studies across key consumer demographics such as Millennials, Moms, Teens, Boomers and Hispanics.
Prior to his work as a consumer insights strategist, John spent eight years conducting legal and legislative research as a member of the Massachusetts Bar and in the United States Senate. John is a graduate of Boston College, earned his JD at New England School of Law and attended the University of Notre Dame London Law Centre.
