If you’ve never considered incorporating Facebook into your company’s marketing strategy, it’s high time you did. There are many reasons it’s a good idea to get with the Facebook advertising program.
According to the Social Media Examiner’s 2013 Media Marketing Industry Report, Facebook and LinkedIn are the two most important social networks for marketers. When forced to select only one platform, 49 percent of marketers selected Facebook, followed by LinkedIn at 16 percent.
Facebook is used by 92 percent of marketers overall, and 66 percent of those currently using Facebook plan to increase their activity. When asked what social media they want to learn more about, 59 percent of marketers said Facebook.

When you first visit www.facebook.com, you will see the following screen.
Click on the link located beneath the green Sign Up button that says, “Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business.”
Next, you will be prompted to select the type of business for which you’re creating a page. Depending on your specific company, you may want to choose one of the following: “Local Business or Place” or “Company, Organization or Institution.”
After selecting your business type, select the industry your company serves from the drop-down list and insert the name of your business. Be sure to select the box stating that you have agreed to the terms.
You will now be asked to log in with a currently existing Facebook account or to create a new business account with Facebook.
Sign up will not be complete until you click the link in your confirmation email, which is sent almost immediately after you provide your email address. Upon opening this link, you will be able to add a description of your business. This mandatory step in the Facebook business page creation process serves to help Facebook users find you. Next, enter your company’s website URL so that viewers of your Facebook page can be redirected to your company’s site.
Your next step is to add a profile picture. Check out what companies in your industry are choosing for their profile pictures. Popular options include logos and photos of the company office building.
Add your page to your list of favorites for easy access from your home page.
Finally, you have the option to add a payment method for advertisements. Though there has been some discussion about the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements, Sam Gustin concludes that Facebook ads can be effective in his article for Time magazine.
It may be shocking to note that according to the same report mentioned above, only 37 percent of marketers think that their Facebook efforts are effective.
