I've never felt more optimistic about the opportunities we have as public relations professionals to lead businesses into better times. My optimism is a result of time spent this week in New York with fellow board members of the Council of Public Relations Firms. I'm new to the board, and I was invigorated by the robust debate and appreciative of the camaraderie of the group.
The board includes leaders from some of the industry’s largest and most respected agencies. Our conversations naturally focused on topics impacting our clients, our businesses and our profession. While challenges certainly lie ahead, the group is decidedly bullish about the expanding role of public relations and our ability to make meaningful, measurable impact at a time when the marketplace needs it now more than ever before.
As strategic business partners, agencies must continue to help clients find new ways to engage stakeholders, influence conversations, enhance reputations and build brands. My prediction? 2011 will definitely be a better year than 2010 for many businesses, and public relations will enjoy an ever-expanding role in making that happen. At Mitchell Communications Group, we've never been more prepared to step into that role, and we look forward to helping our clients lead their businesses into better times.
